Spring Island

Spring Island, South Carolina

Have you ever dreamed of living on your own private island? Somewhere that you can toss your cares aside. Or set off on an adventure, or two. Whatever you choose. On Spring Island, a veritable South Carolina paradise, you can. Residents here lead the good life, enjoying activities amid nature’s splendor.

Spring Island’s Old Tabby Links golf course is a fine example that Mother Nature comes first in this community. The Arnold Palmer-designed course, surrounded by the stunning colors of the great outdoors, features a front nine that intricately weaves through a 150-year-old oak forest. The back nine follows a former quail pasture on six holes and is bordered by the marsh on the remaining three. And you don’t want to miss the thoughtfully designed 17th hole. Nestled between the marshes and a spring-fed rookery, it ranks as one of the top 18 holes created by Palmer.

The hub of activity on Spring Island is Walker Landing, where hikers and bikers can begin a trek along the miles of trails that meander through the lush forest, or kayakers can launch into the creeks surrounding the marshlands. Here, you also can enjoy the Summer House for swimming in the pool, tennis, and use of the ball field, croquet lawn and volleyball court. After a full day of activity, share a satisfying meal at the River House, then gather on the back porch to revel in the beauty of the setting sun.

Homes at Spring Island complement the natural surroundings, many tucked into the lush oak trees that grace the property. Choose from a variety of home sites or existing homes to create the coastal haven you’ve always wanted.

Superior Space:
You’ll always find a new spot to explore among Spring Island’s 3,000 acres of maritime forest and 3,500 acres of marshland. And with only 400 home sites on such an expansive property, it’s easy for residents to feel nestled in their own private coastal home.

Unspoiled Seclusion:
Spring Island has been owned by only four families over the last 200 years, who took care to preserve the land for the pure enjoyment of nature. The current owners share the same dedication to keeping the island undisturbed.

Fun in the Sun: The weather is moderate practically year-round, encouraging you to spend more time enjoying recreational activities in the great outdoors.

The Nature of Things:
Every nook and cranny of the Spring Island landscape offers something to explore. From the stunning oaks and hickories in the maritime forest to the thousands of acres of salt marshes, you’re sure to appreciate the stunning beauty that surrounds you. You can learn more about the island’s environment at the Nature Center and with our four full time naturalists.

Hit the Links:
Carefully crafted to conserve the live oak forest and the natural contours of the land, the Old Tabby Links golf course, designed by Arnold Palmer, presents a fun challenge amid spectacular views.

Saddle Up:
The top-notch equestrian facility is your starting point for a pleasurable horseback ride. Take advantage of the 24-stall barn, two riding rings and 35 miles of trails.

Tennis, Anyone?
Play a friendly game on one of the four Har-Tru clay tennis courts, beautifully enhanced with flowering vines and shrubbery. A tennis pro is on hand to provide lessons and other activities, such as drills, community tennis and interclub play.

A Great Catch:
Launch your boat into the A-grade salt water that surrounds the island and find the perfect spot for fishing. You may get a nibble from redfish, trout, flounder, tarpon, cobia and bass.

Homes Sweet Homes:
When you build or buy your coastal dream home on Spring Island, you’ll feel a great sense of privacy, as lots are set back from the roads and are typically invisible to passersby.
