Red Wolf Run Honored for Preservation

by Jeff Wood on May 15, 2009

Red Wolf Run in Asheville, N.C. was recently given accolades for “Best Preservation Practices” in Mountain Homes magazine’s 2009 “Best of the Mountains” Awards. The follow excerpt is from the magazine’s spring issue:

“With a two-pronged objective, Red Wolf Run is dedicated to both conservation and restoration of endangered species. A member of the Western North Carolina Green Building Council and the U.S. Green Building Council, the site’s developer has donated funds and property to both the American Chestnut Foundation and The Western North Carolina Nature Center while experimenting with new, blight-resistant species of the American chestnut. In addition, it has committed $250,000 to a new habitat for the almost-extinct Red Wolf.”
