What Residents Are Saying: St. James Plantation

by Jeff Wood on March 19, 2009

Carol and Diane Cini of Herndon, Va., found St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C. the ideal spot for retirement. When the time came to move into their new community in July 2007, Diane says they locked the door to their old house and never looked back.

“We had been looking about six years for a place to retire. We wanted to be on the East Coast and near the water. A neighbor told us about St. James Plantation, handed us a video to watch and we decided to visit. After three visits, we bought a lot, later bought a different lot and just finished building our home.”

“People are so active in this community, not only recreationally, but volunteer-wise as well, and that piqued our interest. There’s a lot of diversity, but we’re all in the same situation with our children grown. Everyone is so friendly; we’ve made such wonderful friends.”

“My husband loves tennis. And not only the game, but the group of people that get together and play. We love golfing; there are wonderful people to take lessons from. We go to parties. We took shag lessons. And I am a member of St. James Service Club, a group of women that gives back to the community through volunteering. Anything and everything that you could possibly do is available at St. James. We are so happy here.”
