GREENVILLE, SC –The Reserve at Lake Keowee announced today that Jeffrey Callaham will be September’s Artist in Residence. The Reserve will hold a reception for Callaham on September 23rd from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the Hill House, where 15 of his works will be on display. Non-members can RSVP to this event by calling (864) 481-4010.
During his stay at The Reserve, Callaham will also teach art classes at local elementary schools. He will focus on using recycled materials to create works of art. Through a project Callaham has titled “Local Fishing,” children will paint used water bottles, turning them into fish that will be hung from classroom ceilings with fishing line. Callaham will also spend time in his studio, allowing residents to observe him as he creates a new work of art that will be presented to The Reserve at the end of his stay. [ read more… ]

GREENVILLE, SC – For the fifth year in a row, members at The Reserve at Lake Keowee honored the staff that serves them by trading places with the employees for a day that was filled with fun and fellowship. The annual event gave the property owners the opportunity to give back to the community that they enjoy throughout the year and show the employees how much they appreciate their dedication to their work.
More than 200 owners, employees and family members participated in the event, enjoying a golf tournament, lunch, pool activities and boat rides on Lake Keowee. The members staffed the golf tournament, providing cart staff, beverage cart staff and cleaning of the clubs. Members also organized a barbecue by the pool and served as cooks and wait staff. The PGA TOUR and The Greenbrier jointly announced that they have entered a six-year agreement, through 2015, whereby the historic West Virginia resort will sponsor and host The Greenbrier Classic as part of the FedExCup, beginning the week of July 26 – Aug. 1, 2010.
The new tournament will be held on The Old White Course, The Greenbrier’s original of four golf courses, dating back to 1914. The Greenbrier will form a separate non-profit charitable organization to serve as the tournament operator.
The announcement was made at The Greenbrier during an afternoon press conference that included resort owner James Justice, West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin, World Golf Hall of Fame member and Greenbrier Golf Professional Emeritus Tom Watson and, by videoconference, PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV – Larry Klein, vice president and general manager, and Yann Boutheon, director of food and beverage, for The Greenbrier Sporting Club recently announced the promotions of Stephen Gustard and Hannah Reid.
Gustard, formally chef de cuisine at The Greenbrier Sporting Club Summit has accepted the position as Executive Chef for the prestigious club. As executive chef, Gustard will be responsible for kitchen operations, food preparation and menu development at all of the Sporting Club’s dining outlets. Gustard is a 2004 graduate of The Greenbrier’s Culinary Apprenticeship Program and a 2001 graduate of the culinary arts program at Johnson & Wales.Prior to joining the Sporting Club team in June 2005, Gustard was employed by many other resort destinations including an externship at Pinehurst Resort and a stint at the Boca Bay Pass Club in Florida.
